Why Clear Cut Coverage exists
In today's media landscape, algorithms curate your news feed based on what you've clicked before. Social media reinforces your existing beliefs. Over time, you see more of what you already agree with, and less of everything else.
This isn't just frustrating; it's dangerous for democracy. When we only hear one perspective, we lose the ability to understand, let alone engage with, people who see the world differently.
Clear Cut Coverage is our answer to this problem. We aggregate headlines from liberal-leaning, conservative-leaning, and neutral news sources, presenting them side by side so you can see how the same events are framed differently depending on the source.

We collect headlines every 15 minutes from 26 news sources across the political spectrum.

How we categorize sources
Source categorization is based on multiple factors including editorial stance, story selection patterns, headline framing, and independent media bias assessments from organizations like AllSides, Ad Fontes Media, and academic research.
We recognize that bias exists on a spectrum and that individual articles may differ from a publication's overall lean. Our categorizations represent general editorial tendencies, not absolute labels for every piece of content.

- No hidden agenda: We don't editorialize or add commentary. We present headlines exactly as published by their sources.
- Clear labeling: Every headline shows its source and our assessed political lean. You always know what you're reading.
- Algorithmic neutrality: Headlines are sorted chronologically, not by engagement metrics that favor outrage.
- Open methodology: We're transparent about how we categorize sources and welcome feedback on our assessments.

Who we are
Clear Cut Coverage is built and run by Anthony Bahn, an independent developer, out of a commitment to media literacy and informed citizenship. How sources are chosen and labelled, and how to get something corrected, is set out in the editorial policy. We're not affiliated with any political party, news organization, or advocacy group. Our only agenda is helping people see the bigger picture.
